A study of the different Narratives styles in Fashion photography

I want to look in to the type of narratives used in strong fashion editorials the main thing is to look at the works of philip lorca dicorcia, Tim Walker and david Lachapelle and see how they use narrative in the work and how it differs from each other. maybe look at how there old work compares to there new work, each photograher has a unique style of narrative to there work. such as dicorcia style is very cinematic compared to tim walker whos narrative style is more fantasy old and mainly inspired by british novels. the dissertation must contain 6 references and 6 images that have to be critically analyzed. to be honest im only looking for a 2-2 or higher grade for this.

the layout is just a suggestion but can be changed if the writer feels it would be beneficial to the disstertation

intro – to cover why im looking at narrative in fashion is that i want to look at how narrative in fashion photography is used and does it help selling the “fashionable ideal” which is if I wear those clothes I will look and feel like that way i will become that person/persona
without narrative in editorials it would it be as effective.

methodology – to study the three + photographers work above critically analyzing there work, what there works about, the style of narrative they use, work they have done that shows proof that narrative plays a big part of selling the idea of fashion, how there work is alike and how it differs. how playing with narrative in there photography makes there work more compelling does the work show a clear narrative etc maybe look at the work of richard avedon whos shot fine art fashion and see if there work has the same effect of selling the ideal

conclusion – what looking at there work has shown me maybe by looking at these three + photographers work shows that without narrative in fashion photography that magazine, brand advertisements etc would be bland the impact they have had on the industry.
