. Think of Disney movies such as Snow White or The Lion King, or Hollywood movies having characters with foreign accents.
In entertainment media, what accents do you hear from characters who are supposed to be stupid, criminal, wise, pretentious, or funny?
Find an example from a cartoon or a movie that speaks true to the arguments made in the textbook and the article.
Make sure you mention the specific character and its motivation.
From the point of view of critical discourse analysis/critical language awareness, how do media portrayals of characters with accents having particular motivations, as Van Herk notes, construct racial and ethnic stereotypes in our society?
