Party 1 – banks

Banks have been hit hard financially in the past few years by identity fraud. In fact, according to Bankexperts (2019), “2018 was the worst year for banks ever because of ….” (para. 4) The main three ways that banks have been affected is by reputation, financial loss and the need to increase security protocols.

Banks have been struggling to fix their reputations in the media as they continue to battle the problem of identity theft.  In 2019, CNN reported that….(proof of loss of reputation and HOW it has affected banks in general should be discussed here)

The second problem that banks have faced due to identity fraud is financial loss.  According to QNB, in 2019…..(proof of financial loss should be discussed further)

Finally, banks have been forced to spend time and money on increasing their security protocols in order to combat identity theft.  (proof of which banks have increased protocols, the cost and expense of it or other issues that arose from it should be discussed further)

Ex: Huawei’s banking partners were affected by its fraud:

In 2017, one of Huawei’s banking partner decided to cut ties with Huawei due to their fear of Huawei being a huge risk. In an attempt to retain and expand their relationship with the remaining banking partners, they lied to them that Huawei were the ones to separate from the banking partner.The Office of Public Affair (2019) stated that “The defendants Huawei and Skycom are charged with bank fraud and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to violate and substantive violations of the, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Meng is charged with bank fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud” (Office of Public Affairs, 2019, p. 13). As a result of this fraud, Huawei’s banking partners were not only forced to cut ties, but also try and fix their international reputations and legally protect themselves from the fallout of the case.
