This Child development course course focuses on the integration and applica tion of child developmenttheory to facilitate learning among young children . Students will complete 108 lab hours of supervised field experience at the ca mpus Child Development Center or with an approved Mentor Teacher in the C ommunity. Emphasis is placed on developing effective teaching strategies , play-oriented curriculum planning based upon observation and assessment, di scipline and guidance techniques, cooperative relationships with staff a nd families, professional ethics and assessment of one’s own professional competenc e.
