This media response assignment is an opportunity for you to: a) extend and broaden our classroom dialogue; b) expand your Critical Media Literacy (CML) skills. CML refers to one’s ability to access, analyze, evaluate and communicate information in a variety of forms, including print and non-print messages. During the semester, we will watch various media (i.e., film clips, documentary). This assignment calls for you to do three things:
1. Watch the two video clips.
2. Think about what you have watched and synthesize it with our course readings and discussions.
3. Write a response (500-word minimum) to the following media prompt (below in green).

A Quick Note on the Videos
Every single person is unique and has different skills, so why are students taught the same way? Jan Wilson explores the possibilities of a universal design for learning, and how every individual can benefit. Dr. Jan Wilson is Wellspring Associate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and History at the University of Tulsa. Her teaching and research areas include gender and disability studies, feminist theory, and United States Women’s History. To gain further context, I would encourage that (after watching the videos) you read p. 3 in Derman-Sparks & Edwards’ Anti-Bias Education. On that page, read the Stop & Think: Imagine section and then develop your response to the videos.
