Your task is to write a report to your manager at the company you have decided to work for. The purpose of the report is explain and justify your professional development plan (review the project scenario if necessary). The report needs to explain how your PD plans will make you a better employee and benefit the company. The report also needs to justify the time and cost of your plan. Your report should include some kind of comparative analysis of different PD opportunities that would suit you and the company- don’t just choose one activity and expect your manager to approve it. A good proposal generally provides at least three possibilities and one or two recommendations. Your goal is to have your manager approve your PD plan.

Notes:

1. A report of this kind should be about 500-800 words.
2. How you design and organize the report is up to you. Do some research to discover how different kinds of reports are designed and presented and which type of report would suit yours. The report must be easy and interesting to read.
3. The information in the report must be REAL – based on research. Do not make anything up. Provide references and links to all the sites and sources you used to write the report.
4. Do not copy and paste any information from your sources. Summarize, paraphrase and cite your sources.

Your report will be assesses based on the following criteria:

1. Task Analysis – Do you carefully analyze the purpose, audience, information, etc (PAIBOC)?
2. Content – Is the information in the report adequate to make a decision on approving the PD plan?
3. Format and Design – Is the report formatted to look like a professional document? Is it organized logically and clearly. Is it easy to read and remember?
4. Tone and Style – Does the report make use of strategies for tone and style (positive language, common courtesy, point-of-view, etc.)?
5. Grammar and Mechanics – Is the report free of word and sentence level errors that interfere with meaning and fluency?
