You will give fellow students a four-paragraph peer review. If you do not format your comments into four paragraphs, you will lose points.

Paragraph 1 is written after you have read the essay. This is an overall summary paragraph where you highlight the two best parts of the essay/visual and where you identify two areas that are really a mess and thus, you are very concerned about (such as MLA-formatted Works Cited or poor written conclusion). You should have a minimum of FOUR SENTENCES TO DEAL WITH THE ABOVE CONTENT.

Sentence 1 comments on: 1 inch margins around all pages

Sentence 2 comments on: Last name & page # in upper RH corner

Sentence 5 comments on: Everything is neatly double spaced. No extra spaces anywhere

Sentence 6 comments on: no paragraph ever longer than 3/4 page

Sentence 7 comments on: No direct quote longer than 4 typed lines.

Sentence 8 comments on: Meets 4 page length plus Visual & Works Cited.

Sentence 9 comments on: Works Cited with minimum 5 sources: flawless spacing and indentation. Articles in “ “ Sources in italics. Authors in alphabetical order. Accessed date with months abbreviated.

Here’s an example of a strong paragraph 2 feedback. PLEASE PLEASE do not number the sentences, but I did to show you how I followed my above checklist:

1. Good job with one-inch margins around all pages. 2. I noticed that all your pages had your last name and page # but the Works Cited was missing that info. 3. You caught all the block of 4 information, but you misspelled the professor’s last name. 4. The title is a bit boring and a bit too long. 5. Yeah on the double spacing everywhere! 6. Good paragraph length. 7. I noticed that one paragraph on page 3 had a direct quote with five typed lines — you should shorten that quote. 8. You are a little bit short on the written page length and you forget your visuals page. 9. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your Works Cited is a mess: you forgot accessed dates and the indentaions are a mess. I know spacing can be complicated. I suggest you reach out to the Gurus or IT immediately to see how they can help you fix this issue.

Paragraph 3 focuses on essay organization & content and has 13 sentences:

Sentence 1 comments on: correct hook (story, statistic, quote) formatted correctly with flow

Sentence 2 comments on: middle passion section that flows.

Sentence 3 comments on: great thesis statement. Does not have to be if, then but should be strong with a population.

Sentence 4 comments on: you can easily find the strong topic sentence for each body paragraph.

Sentence 5 comments on: each body paragraph has cited evidence from the readings. The author last name is in the sentence and the words article and article titles are not mentioned.

Sentence 6 comments on: the appropriateness of the quotes to fit the topic sentence.

Sentence 7 comments on: Writer shares strong experiences (personal) or explanations (philosophical thought) to support the paragraph topic.

Sentence 8 comments on: that none of the body paragraphs start of end with a direct quote.

Sentence 9 comments on: the conclusion that immediately opens with a question or a reference back to hook.

Sentence 10 comments on: the bold action plan to increase listening for the audience population.

Sentence 11 comments on: All sources cited in paper are cited in Works Cited.

Sentence 12 comments on: in-text citations are done correctly

Sentence 13 comments on: the creativity and clarity and connection of the Visual Graphic page

Paragraph 4 focuses on sentence strength and has a minimum of 4 sentences:

Sentence 1 ( and maybe more) comments on: student never uses the word you in the essay unless in a direct quote.

Sentence 2 ( and maybe more) comments on: the lack of passive verbs unless RB DQ. Please point out at least 2 specific examples by citing page # and with referencing what paragraph on that page.

Sentence 3 ( and maybe more) comments on: use of banned words, awkward sentences.

Sentence 4 (and maybe more) comments on: the fact that there are no uses of the words author, article, quote, and quote titles.
