Start Thinking and Researching

I need a 3-4 minutes speech, I am a business major and below are the instructions for the speech. Please don’t forget to read chapter 12, I have attached the book.

1. Start Thinking and Researching

Speech 1 requires you to give an informative speech about a person who made a significant contribution to a field you anticipate going into (or one you may potentially go into). Start thinking and researching to identify such a person that you can speak on.

Examples might include — to give various fields as examples:

Someone who shaped the marketing industry in the 20th century.

Someone who shaped the field of medicine or nursing.

Someone who shaped the industry of visual arts, photography, or filmmaking.

Someone who shaped the field of education.

Someone who shaped contemporary theology, ecclesiology, etc.

2. Read, Think, and Narrow your Topic

Read Chapter 12 of your book, focusing especially on Section 12-2a: Choose your Topic, which includes these sub-headings:

Select a topic that matters to you …

oappropriate to the occasion

oappropriate to your audience

Narrow your Topic

Use the recommended steps to narrow down your topic to one person.

3. Gather Quality Research

Identify at least 3 good quality, credible sources for your speech.

TYPICALLY, your sources should include:

Articles found via quality web searches, published in credible online magazines, newspapers, or websites.

Articles found using the EBSCOhost online database.

Articles found in the References section of a Wikipedia article on the topic. (You may use some of the sources behind the Wikipedia article — not the Wikipedia article itself.)

Your sources may also include:

One or more credible books on the topic.

4. Prepare and Submit your Proposal

In a Word document or PDF, identify prepare the following, under these headings:

Topic

Propose your speech topic. In 3-5 sentences, answer the questions: Who was (or is) she or he? What field did he or she contribute to? What was her or his key contribution?

References

List at least 3 good sources, using APA or MLA format.
