Unit One The State of State

The Americas and Europe provided a clear landscape of development. In Europe the feudal age had come to an end, Spain and Portugal began a massive period of expansion and colonization while the French and the English were left behind. The Incas and the Aztecs had developed vibrant empires, cities, and their own clear expression of civilization, contrast this point with Europe.

Response One:

1. In general define the economic and political state of the Spanish and the Portuguese as the two states moved toward rapid expansion. Include any political, religious, and economic issues that Europe could potentially face before the advent of growth. What state made more clear innovations toward development and growth as an empire?

2. Present a brief landscape of the development of the Inca and Aztecs in contrast to European development.

Second Response

1. Contrast first a wealthy Native-American Empire in the Americas and define if there were similar characteristics to any of the emergent European powers, please note this point can go beyond Spain and Portugal. Was there a clear pattern of development around the European and major Native-American powers?
