KEY POINTS:
Context for CW1 / Individual Assignment Brief
UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER
The University of Westminster / UoWis committed to providing and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment for all University colleagues, students, and any other people who may be affected by its activities.
There has been much discussion with the Business School as to whether a wellbeing app would be useful for undergraduates.Hence the School of Management and Marketing has been tasked with exploring what a wellbeing app would include and how it can be accessed.
Initially, an exploratory project (based on secondary data collection / desk research) was commissioned to produce an overview of the type of wellbeing apps different universities were making available or selling or undergraduate students were buying.
Some new secondary data has just been made available and a query has arisen which you (as a research executive working for an Agency specialising in work with students in Central London) have been asked to answer – Task One in the Individual Assessment.
The University wants to explore in detail the expectations UG students have and their specific requirements and preferences for a wellbeing app. The University also wants to determine if this wellbeing app should be made available by the University branded to the specific course undergraduates are enrolled on.
There will be one Focus Group at each of the four campuses (Marylebone, Harrow, Cavendish Street, and Regent Street). The focus group will have between 6-8 participants / Undergraduate students from a range of courses delivered at each campus.
The University is now planning the second phase of the project which will involve this series of four Focus Groups among UoWundergraduates – – Task Two in the Individual Assessment.
Finally, there has been some discussion within the committee at the University of Westminster who will be evaluating the research findings. Statements have been made which are not clear to some members of the committee.
Thus, for Task Threein the individual assignment, each student will have two statements (allocated by seminar tutors / available in a list on bb) that they need to explain and critically evaluate.
PLEASE REFER TO THE DOCUMENT LABELLED ‘DETAILED OVERVIEW’ FOR ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT EACH OF THE TASKS.
This document (‘Detailed Overview’) includes the data set for Task One and the statements (from which each student is allocated two statements) for Task Three.
As mentioned above, Tasks One and Two are the same for each student but in Task Three each student has two different statements allocated in the seminar in Week 2.
GUIDANCE NOTES FOR COMPLETING THE INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT
Further guidance will be given during the Module in lecture sessions and during seminars. Students are also strongly urged to use the CW1 Guidance available in bb under ‘assessment details.
Weeks 2 & 3 of the Module delivery link specifically to Task One in CW1.
Weeks 4 & 5 of the Module delivery link specifically to Task Two in CW1.
