A creative, relevant, and original title that hooks the reader’s attention and is specific enough to allow the reader a clear idea of the paper’s topic A clearly articulated research question and argumentative thesis statement, both in the introductory paragraph of your essay. A thoroughly researched explanation of the topic, its stakes, and why its important to feminist thinking, activism, politics, or identity. This essay MUST cite a MINIMUM of 5 peer-reviewed, academic sources (peer-reviewed journal articles and single-author academic monographs or essays in edited collections published by a reputable academic/university press). Other sources are welcome (including journalistic and internet based, or cultural examples like films, TV shows, music, poetry, literature, etc.), but they must be properly contextualized within your argument and in relation to your thesis. An action plan outlining what could or should be done to address this issue and any injustice it engages in the world. This action plan should refer back to your research to demonstrate its applicability or relevance to the issue, but beyond that, it’s a place you can dream big, get creative, and think about how one might make structural change in the world.
