Argonauts of the Western Pacific
You will write a 1400-1700 word essay (double-spaced with standard margins and 12 pt. Times New Roman font—this word count should include all citations and your bibliography, and will normally work out to be 5-6 pages) in response to the following prompt: Based on your reading of the first chapters of Argonauts of the Western Pacific, what is the proper amount of distance an anthropologist should have from the people amongst whom s/he is working? How have these ideas been challenged since Malinowski’s time? Please draw on two of our required course readings (in addition to Argonauts of the Western Pacific) in your response.
