Analysis 2: A company that manufactures blenders wants to compare three different factory lighting conditions for its employees. Each of the individuals’ shifts is 8 hours long, and can be arranged as one 8-hour block of work or two 4-hour blocks with a break in between. 30 employees are chosen as the participants for this study. Half of the individuals are asked to work for an 8-hour block, while the other half works for two 4-hour blocks with a break. All individuals in each condition are subject to 3 different lighting conditions over the course of three days (Day 1=Simulated Sunlight, Day 2= Fluorescent Light, and Day 3 = Incandescent Light). On each day, each individual’s average length of time taken to assemble exactly one blender is measured (minutes). Perform an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine the effect of shift-type and lighting condition.

Analysis 3: To measure the effect of both exercise and alcohol intake on blood sugar, a researcher asks 15 participants to record their blood sugar levels at the end of a week during which they had not consumed any alcohol. Each participant then recorded their blood sugar at the end of the following week, during which they consumed one serving of alcohol each day. The same procedure was followed for the next two weeks, except participants were required to exercise each day for exactly one hour. Perform an Analysis of Variance to determine whether there is an effect of exercise and alcohol intake on blood sugar (measured in millimoles/liter).
