- While the norm is buying books in college, times are changing. As technology has become more prevalent in our lives, so have the needs for physical books. In most cases, physical books cost much more than an online dealer (Spector, 2018). Why is this? The reason is that materials are directly more expensive than online formats. Online book sellers such as Chegg, Cengage, and Biblo allow students to spend up to half the price to own the same books. This will only multiply in the future as more avenues for owning and renting books opens. This is not to say college bookstores don’t have a space. The need to own books, as well as having access to them on campus is always needed.

A. College Textbook Publishers
1. There are a few different textbook publishers: McGraw-Hill, Harcourt, Houghton Mifflin, Pearson. These publishers take around 90% of the marketplace of textbooks
2. Other vendors must sell the textbooks either the same or more than the publisher’s price which is normally overpriced.
B. Buying from online vendors viruses buying from the college bookstore, as the bookstore may be connivant it isn’t always the most cost-effective option.
1. The range of prices, whether you choose to rent or own by the price.
2. Do more students purchase from connivance or based off the price of the books.

A. We could use open source libraries before considering textbook from publishers.
1. There are different websites that provides textbooks for free in the public domain that havebeen developed and proofread by professionals.
2.Some classes are already utilizing the benefits from open source libraries. The class for programming fundamentals and into mythology using free sources.

Conclusions and Recommendations
The rising cost of textbook has recently become the issues of every college student. The textbook prices have increased more than 1000% times since the late 1970s (DiGangi2015). The continuously increase of textbook will create a greater impact to a student. After comparing the prices of books, we be able to see the difference between college bookstore and online websites. As we all know, there are many online sellers we can choose that offer a lowest price than the college bookstore. In buying a textbook, we recommend reading the sellers review and book to make sure that it is the right textbook. Next, do the quick price comparison from different store such as Chegg, Cengage, and Biblo that offer lower price.
