Analysis: Functional Strategies and TQM in Capstone
Discussion 2: Competition Round 1 Functional Strategies
Once Competition Round 1 is run, each Capstone team member is to analyze Competition Round 1 results from the perspective of two of the four Decision Areas (R&D, Marketing, Production, or Finance) and how decisions in that area impacted performance in other functional areas and overall team results. Put a primary focus on your own team results, but include in your analysis at least some of the results from the other teams. Minimum: 300 word Posting by Day 5, Week 3. You are to respond to at least two other postings, at least one being a posting from classmate of the other team by Day 7, Week 3.
Discussion 3: TQM
Under Tutorials, Part 6 Optional Modules, view the TQM Initiatives tutorial and complete associated quiz. Under Legacy Demonstrations, view the TQM tutorial (covering entering TQM decisions in Capstone). As a manager, having responsibilities for TQM decisions in the Capstone simulation, discuss at least 3 points that are important for effective strategic and tactical decision making in this functional area. Minimum: 200 word posting, due not later than Day 5 Week 4 (and before making decisions for Round 2). Review other postings. Responses encouraged but not necessary.
