INVESTIGATING SIMILARITIES BETWEEN BNW and WESTERN CIVILIZATION 2020
For the classic dystopian novel Brave New World, we will be examining the writer’s futuristic vision of western civilization, and comparing the society depicted in the novel to western civilization in 2020.
BNW was written almost 100 years ago. Huxley created a high-tech, super industrialized and scientifically advanced imaginary world set in approximately 2450 AD. People often remark that Huxley was a visionary, and that he foresaw changes and developments that have occurred even more quickly than he could have perhaps imagined.
You will choose three topics to research, produce one worksheet per topic, and then synthesize your learning and thinking to produce a single literary essay that answers the question.
