With the research paper option, you should pick an industry of your interest (e.g., airlines, sports, advertising, insurance, music, etc.), and then pick oneimportant problem within that industry which requiresadvanced quantitative methods to address (e.g., optimal dynamic pricing of tickets over time, optimal assignments/rotation of players in a team, scheduling national leagues, optimal serving of ads on websites to users,identifying risky customers based on their individual characteristics,identifying songs a person may likebased on previous browsing history, etc.). For that particular problem you should then investigate existing state-of-the-art business analytics models (like advanced visualization, optimization, simulation, regression,classification,etc.) that are used to address that specificproblem.The full paper should be 8‐10 pages long(12pt font, 1.5 spacing), with properly cited sources (APA style).References must include at least four academic peer‐reviewedjournal articles, at least fourbusiness/industry press articles from reputable sources (e.g., WSJ, Economist,Bloomberg, or any respected industry‐specific source), along with additional references from blogs, company press releases, etc. to flesh out yourtopic.Superfluous “filler” references are not acceptable.
