Paper Submit a paper describing your children’s book. Give the intended age range for your story and discuss what is going on in the domain of psychology you are addressing. For example, you might focus on cognitive development, socio-emotional development, motor development, or any other area we have covered. Example: If, for instance, you were to write a story for toddlers about the death of a beloved pet, you might want to use an article which discusses the developmental progression in the understanding of death and how in toddlers, death is viewed much as separation is. You would need to think about the implications of that in the context of the story you tell and consider children’s capacity for understanding death. • Page limit is 2-3 pages.

General Requirements
• Your writing should be comprehensible and clear – proofread for spelling errors and grammar. It should also present a clear progression of ideas and include necessary elements of good writing. Egregious issues in writing clarity and grammar will result in a deduction of points from overall grade for the assignment. • Use APA style: include an APA style title page, use double-spaced 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins all around, left alignment, etc. • Do not use bold writing or informal language. • Integrate knowledge from class and relevant readings. Include in-text citations and references. You must include all materials used, in APA format.

Paper 30 pts. Strong introduction of the topic. Specific thesis statement. Paper discusses the problem, occurrence or common routine within the context of one area of development. o Describes the area of development your book addresses. Discusses the implication of that in the context of the story you tell. o Your topic is tightly focused and relevant. o Text provides good depth and detail. o Ideas well developed. o Paper is within specified length. Include research related to the topic. o Utilize a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed articles (e.g., empirical, review, or meta-analysis). o In additional to the 2 peer-reviewed articles, you are free to use reputable websites, books, or your textbook. I highly discourage websites such as Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, etc. o Citations are appropriate to the content of the paper o Citations are current and used properly. Conclusion is clearly stated and connections to the research are clear and relevant. Insightful discussion on what learned about the topic, how your thinking has changed, etc. Writing and APA format 5 pts. APA style format In-text citations and a “References” page is included. Citations are correctly cited in both the body and the reference section. Citations match in the body and in the reference section. Ideas are presented in logical order with effective transitions between paragraphs. Writing is clear, concise, and persuasive. Text is written in appropriate tone and style. There are no spelling or grammatical errors and terminology is clearly defined.
