Place the cover letter on a page just before the first page of your Summary and Response draft (If following MLA style, this will be the first page of your draft document; if following APA style, this will be the second page of your draft document, just after the title page). Remove your Purpose Statement.

APA or MLA manuscript style formatting, as specified by your instructor, with in-text citations and either References (APA) or Works Cited (MLA) page, as specified by your instructor. (Works Cited or References list does not count in the minimum word-count requirement)

FINAL DRAFT DEVELOPMENT. As you revise and complete your Final Draft, continue to develop the following:

• Writing Strategies. In your Final Draft, consider again the three writing strategies used in this project: (1) Correct your Rhetorical Description of the core reading/focus text and make sure it is accurate and detailed; (2) revise your Summary of the core reading/focus text to make it clearer and more accurate; (3) Complete your Response to the core reading/focus text, adding more textual support and reasoning to justify the case you are making.
• Organization. Be sure your Final Draft includes an introduction; body paragraphs, including a summary of your core reading and a complete response; and a conclusion. Also include topic sentences and transitions, as needed, to guide you readers and make connections between your ideas.
• Textual Support. For the Final Draft, include at least 5 paraphrases and/or quotations of the core reading/focus text to support your summary and response. You may also use additional sources to back up your response, though this is NOT required. ALL quotations and paraphrases, no matter how many you use, and ALL sources used, must be correctly cited following APA or MLA style guidelines (as specified by your instructor). See CHAPTERS 19 and 23 of Writing: Ten Core Concepts to learn more about incorporating quotations and paraphrases into your written work.
