Describe evidence based practice (EBP)and quality improvement (QI) in your current clinical setting. How do these 2 concepts relate? What is your unit/organization doing related to EBP and QI? What improvements are needed in relation to evidence-based practice. What is a problem that that you think would be beneficial for your unit to address. Please provide brief examples from practice. You will also need to explain EBP and QI using supporting information from your textbook and other scholarly sources (websites or journal articles). (minimum 250 words)
Focusing on one improvement that is needed in your area of clinical practice. Apply the steps of EBP to the problem.
Asking clinical questions that are answerable with research evidence
Searching for and collecting evidence that addresses the question
Appraising and synthesizing the evidence
Integrating the evidence with your own clinical expertise, patient preferences, and local context.
Assessing the effectiveness of the decision, intervention, or advice
Using principles of EBP and QI is essential when trying to make change. In an organized way, identify 5 facilitators of change, 5 barriers to change, and 5 ways to specifically get past your 5 named barriers.
Create a PICO question using the template provided in your textbook. The question must contain the (P), (I), etc. embedded in the question, like you see in the example below. Example: In adults (P), what is the effect of a 16-week (T) aerobic exercise program (I) versus no aerobic exercise program (C) on systolic blood pressure (O)? This PICO question will be used throughout the semester as you work toward your final poster.
