Please work on the following exercises to make up for missing 17 points on exam #3. Take extra care to demonstrate to me that you understand the chapters and know how to apply the knowledge. Please email this document with your responses to alamu1n@cmich.edu before 5 PM on Friday, Nov 6, 2020.

1. (7 points) Apply the concepts you learned in chapter 9 to the video section of your group assignment. Write a detailed step-by-step plan to create your group video. See fig 9.15 for guidance.
2. (5 points) Imagine you are going to interview a mid-level manager in a large corporation about the company’s meeting practices. Read the questions and then (A) critique them, as a whole, indicating what is effective or ineffective about this series of questions, and (B) select three questions and revise them to make them more effective.

4. To whom do you report?
5. Do you attend or run many meetings?
6. Do your meetings start on time? Run late?
7. Do you distribute or receive a meeting agenda several days in advance of the meeting?
8. Do you like your job?
9. Do you travel a lot for your job?
10. Has your company cut back on travel expenditures? If so, how and why?
11. Does your company use videoconferencing or online meetings as an alternative to travel?
12. Does your company own its own videoconferencing equipment?
13. Are virtual meetings more or less effective than face-to-face meetings?
14. How long have you worked at this company?
15. Who are your most important customers?
16. How often does your management team meet with the managers of other companies?
17. Does your company produce a wide range of products or only a few specialty items?
18. How do you keep your meetings on track?
19. Does someone prepare written minutes of meetings? Are the minutes distributed to meeting members?
20. (5 points) Using the advice in chapter 11, revise the following statements to deemphasize the bad news. Explain your changes.
    1. The airline can’t refund your money. The “Conditions” section on the back of your ticket states that there are no refunds for missed flights. Sometimes the airline makes exceptions, but only when life and death are involved. Of course, your ticket is still valid and can be used on a flight to the same destination.
    2. I’m sorry to tell you, we can’t supply the custom decorations you requested. We called every supplier, and none of them can do what you want on such short notice. You can, however, get a standard decorative package on the same theme in time. I found a supplier that stocks these. Of course, it won’t have quite the flair you originally requested.
    3. We can’t refund your money for the malfunctioning MP3 player. You shouldn’t have immersed the unit in water while swimming; the users’ manual clearly states that the unit is not designed to be used in adverse environments.
