Multimodal Research Project Assignment

For your multimodal research project, formulate a research question and argument relating to a specific researched topic of your choice. Your research should be accompanied by or feature a multimodal component that you create. Possible examples include an image/series of images, a video, a web-based project, a blogpost, a twitter thread, a chart, an infographic, a .gif, a meme/series of memes…the possibilities are endless).  If you’re unsure what might count as multimodal, please run your idea(s) by me and I’ll be happy to discuss them with you.

You are should aim to reach 1,750-2,000 words total, or about 7-8 pages double-spaced for this assignment. However, the scope of the multimodal component you create might factor into the overall word count. For example, if you create a longer video project with an accompanying script, the length of your script could count towards your word count. Similarly, if you design an entire website for your project, coding text and web design components may also factor into the overall word count.

Your project should ultimately include the following:

• A compelling, focused research question and argument relating to a topic of your choice. Your research can relate to your own major or another field or topic that you find interesting.
• Your created multimodal component.
• A minimum of 3 sources cited
• A Works Cited page in any citation format that you choose
• A Multimodal Meta-Analysis

500 words (about 2 double-spaced pages) of your project should consist of a brief “meta-analysis” of the multimodal component of your project.  In this meta- analysis, you should specifically address how the multimodal component that you create functions to inform or enrich your research argument.

***Your meta-analysis is included in the overall word count.  In other words, you should aim to have at least 1,250-1,500 words (5-6 pages double-spaced) of “research” writing and around 500 words (2 double-spaced pages) of meta-analysis
