Supervisor Assessment Paper

In order to provide each of you with a self-evaluation of your existing skills and abilities against the standard skills and abilities of a supervisory position, it would be to your advantage to cultivate and improve the required skills and abilities right from this course.  Toward this professional goal, the following term paper is designed:

It is important for any potential supervisor to possess a high awareness of his/her own strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities in supervision. This project assignment provides each of you an opportunity for a self-examination/self-evaluation in various aspects of supervision that have been studied in the text and discussed throughout this course.

The following criteria have been developed to encourage each of you to exert the sincere effort in making a well-considered supervisory analysis and to display a few of those abilities and characteristics in writing.   The project should be presented in a professional manner and may be written in an essay style.   Please look closely at the grade rubric.

The Term Paper must be submitted as a file attachment in Microsoft Word file format or as a .pdf file. If you use software other than Word, your software will likely allow you to “save as” .doc or .docx Word format.

Following is an example of One Topic Paragraph that includes all 5 key parts:

1.        Daily Planning

One of my strengths in daily planning is that I am fairly consistent in recording in my schedule book all of my appointments. This is important in the workplace because, if I fail to write down my appointments when I make them, I will wind up double-booking and not be able to meet some of them. Additionally, John Jones wrote in his 2015 article titled “Planning for Success” that “planning at the end of the day creates a smooth start-up to each work day.”  A weakness I have in daily planning is that often I don’t refer to my schedule during the day. This can affect the workplace because I might miss an appointment I made, or I fail to accomplish something critical that was written into my schedule. An idea I have to improve is to each day write my “to do” list on a 3 by 5 card and carry it with me in my shirt pocket.
