Research Proposal

Students will prepare a 12-15 page research proposal (not including title page, tables, figures and references) as previously discussed in class. Proposal must be organized, typed in 12 point Times New Roman font, and compliant with the latest APA guidelines.

The proposal should consist of the following sections:

Proposal: Using the research process develop a research proposal. Include the following:

Statement & Discussion of Research Problem, Research Question, Hypothesis, & Significance of Research
Review of the Literature
Methodology

– Hypothesis and hypothesis operationalization

This article talks about the numerous deaths involved with opioids and how it causes health related issues and other harms. In terms it explains causes of deaths and the different reasons for it which they all lead back to the opioids usage.

This article explains which Birmingham captains are patrolling which areas in the city and where each police precinct is in. The article also talks about two groups the first one being The Crime Prevention Officers (CPO) are civilian employees that perform community relations related activities by providing crime prevention information and conducting security surveys of homes and businesses. The second group is, The Community Service Officers (CSO) are certified social workers that provide services to mentally ill, indigent, and challenged individuals. They also aid victims of domestic violence by assisting them with housing and related family needs.

This article talks about how the crime has been down in 2019 but things have changed since last year and with this article I can show a pattern. The pattern will show the fluctuation of crime between both years.

This article talks about bringing the community together and keeping everyone in a connection through social media. The term used for it is called Putting the people first. This will establish a better connection of keeping the community united and up to speed in case of emergencies and or other events.

In this article one of the city officials talks about how her son was killed in 2006. Ever since then the city council has arranged for city wide sweeps to help fight crime and help cut down on it.

This article is about how mayor Randall Woodfin and other city officials organized a plan to cut down on gun violence. The plan is called Increase Peace Campaign, it is the purpose of protecting Birmingham residents from gun violence and keeping them safe

This article describers how the Birmingham police chief is taking it upon himself to ensure safety throughout the city and double police throughout the neighborhoods. Their approach would be to have multiple staff on each shift so every officer will have backup.

This article is about Birmingham ending the epidemic of drugs that are being run through the streets. This had been going on since Nixon was in office since this has been going and things have gotten better but the drugs are worse. The police are being involved more and helping end this war for drugs.
