Science Paper Biological Topic
Science Paper Assignment
Identify a biological topic. Analyze and dissect the science in two science papers using
the scientific method.
In 2 pages or less, list and describe using bullets: the observation, the causal question,
the hypothesis, the test, the prediction(s), the actual results, and the primary conclusion
of each study.
On a 3rd page, copy a graph from the article and briefly describe what it is showing.
Do this twice: 1) an observational study and 2) an experimental study
Your final page should compare the two study approaches and explain the positives and
negatives of each.
(you should end up with 7-8 pages total)
-Potential sources: any peer-reviewed scientific publication with an impact factor greater
than 1 (no Science or Nature papers)
-Needs to be a biological topic
-Paper needs to be from 2019-20 (This can include papers currently accepted and in
press. If you aren’t sure, look at its citation and if the year is before 2019 do not use it)
-Should be typed and double spaced.
-No cover page is needed.
-Due Tuesday, November 17, 2020 (Safe Assign Box will close at midnight)
