For this discussion post, you will focus on the elements of visual art and some of the conversations that have evolved in the discussion of art. Before you begin, I am posing to you the problem of art itself: what is art?

Decide which of these pieces are art and which are not?
Come up with a set of rules for what constitutes art. Be specific.
What does a piece need to have in order to make it art?
Explain why the pieces you have chosen earned the distinction of art.
If there are some pieces that are not art, what properties do they lack? Why are they not-art?

For your Response, look at the rules your peer has come up with—their rules for what constitutes art, and what is excluded from art. Then…
Think of something that you feel is a) a work of art and b) would be excluded from being defined as art by your peers’ rules.
Post the picture of what you think is an art that would be excluded from your peer’s definition (make sure its not one of the images in the table).
Finally, come up with something you think needs to be added to their definition of art to your peer’s rules in order to allow what you have chosen to count as art.
