Why do I want to major in mechanical engineering?
My decision to study mechanical engineering derived from my love of building and creating. When I was young, I had a set of Lego NXT kit. I would always make a mess taking my Legos apart to create an ingenious design. I was never bored because it was always a challenge to put new ideas into action. Since that time, I’ve participated in many STEM programs and camps which has increased my interest to see what is beyond Legos. This journey led me to join my middle school and high school robotics team which introduced me to the Vex and FIRST Robotics Competition. These competitions were not just about building robots, it is about critical thinking. I was elated to problem solve structural and operational issues that arrive during these competitions. Understanding there is a demand that requires mechanical accuracy and innovation inspires me to pursue the education that will prepare me. My career goal includes developing medical devices that will improve Healthcare delivery.
Many people do not realized the impact mechanical engineers have on their everyday life.
I want to be apart of something big and make an impact in society. I want to work with a team of engineers who have crazy ideas that can actually work. I enjoy the late night working on a project and the feeling you get when its finale starts to work.
Studying Mechanical engineering at UT is where I must start in order to pave my way for the future. Cockrell School of Engineering has one of the best mechanical engineering program and multiple graduate programs to choose from.
